Management
Carl Hayes serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Invenci, a fast growing innovator in developing bespoke artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for the enterprise. A seasoned technology executive, Mr. Hayes brings almost two decades of leadership experience across cybersecurity, AI, and digital transformation.
At Invenci, Carl leads the company’s strategic vision to deliver safe, secure, human centered AI that enhances operational efficiency and unlocks measurable return on investment (ROI) for organizations across industry sectors. Under his leadership, Invenci has expanded its portfolio of generative AI and machine learning solutions, strengthened its position in the Canadian technology ecosystem, and accelerated partnerships that help enterprises adopt AI with confidence and clarity. His focus on ethical innovation, transparency, and measurable business outcomes has become a defining element of Invenci’s culture and market reputation.

Before joining Invenci, Mr. Hayes served as a Partner and Chief Revenue Officer at Stratejm (now Bell Cyber), where he played a pivotal role in scaling one of Canada’s first cloud native Security as a Service (SaaS) platforms. He led national go to market strategy, enterprise sales, and customer success, driving significant revenue growth and helping position the company for its acquisition by Bell Canada Enterprises (BCE) in July 2024. His work contributed to establishing Stratejm as a trusted leader in cybersecurity modernization for large public and private sector organizations.
Mr. Hayes is recognized for his ability to bridge technical depth with business strategy, guiding organizations through digital transformation with a pragmatic, outcomes driven approach. He is a frequent contributor to discussions on AI adoption, cybersecurity resilience, and the future of intelligent automation.
Meet Carl
Daniel Pizon, operating as the COO of Invenci, is a seasoned technology executive with over 15 years of professional experience building, operating, and scaling organizations that deliver digital, data science, IT implementation, and cybersecurity services to mid- and large-enterprise clients. Concurrently, he is the President of CrossLeaf Web Engineering, where he leads enterprise application development initiatives across complex public, regulated, and private-sector environments. Mr. Pizon previously served as President of Canary Trap, a cybersecurity firm, and now acts as its Board Chair, providing strategic and governance oversight. His extensive background operating IT companies and experience working with financial institutions and retail sectors, combined with a strong track record of driving high-performing teams, positions him to bring deep value in developing and commercialize intellectual property for Invenci.
Meet Daniel
Harald Ujc is a founding partner and Chief Technology Officer at Invenci, where he leads the delivery of enterprise-grade generative AI, intelligent automation, and AI governance solutions. With over two decades of experience in IT leadership, software engineering and applied artificial intelligence, he specializes in transforming emerging technologies into secure, scalable systems that drive measurable business value. Harald holds a degree in Physics from the University of Toronto and has been a student mentor in the university’s Computer Science department. Based in Toronto, he is a frequent speaker on AI discovery, risk management, and practical enterprise adoption, helping organizations bridge the gap between experimentation and real-world AI impact.
Meet Harald
Shawn Marriott is a senior technology and cybersecurity executive with deep experience spanning product leadership, critical-infrastructure organizations, and financial services. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and completed a graduate program in Data Science from Harvard University. Mr. Marriott has led product management functions at leading cybersecurity companies including Tanium, Lacework, and SentinelOne, where he worked on enterprise-scale security platforms addressing complex threat and compliance environments. Earlier in his career, he developed domain expertise in the electricity sector through his work with the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), and in Canadian financial services through roles at Meridian Credit Union. In addition to his professional work, Mr. Marriott is an active ethical hacker who participates in bug bounty programs and has received awards from organizations including Facebook and United Airlines, reflecting his hands-on expertise and continued engagement with real-world security challenges.

Charles Wachsberg is the founder, President, and CEO of Apollo Health and Beauty Care, a Toronto‑based manufacturer specializing in premium private‑label personal care products. He established the company in 1991 and has grown it into Canada’s largest private‑label and control‑label personal care producer, supplying major retailers and national brands. Mr. Wachsberg previously held senior leadership roles at Acasta Enterprises Inc. He is recognized as a central figure in North America’s health and beauty manufacturing sector.

Chris Patterson is the Head of Enterprise AI Platforms and Solutions at CIBC, where he leads the bank’s strategy and implementation of generative‑AI technologies to drive enterprise‑wide innovation. His work focuses on building responsible, scalable AI capabilities that enhance client experiences and operational efficiency, and he is featured in CIBC’s public discussions on the future of AI in banking. Mr. Patterson previously held senior technology and data roles at global institutions including Standard Bank, Barclays, BNP Paribas, and Hitachi Vantara. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Software Engineering from the University of Windsor.

Max Cananzi is a seasoned Canadian energy‑sector executive best known for his tenure as President of Alectra Utilities Corporation, one of North America’s largest municipally owned electricity distributors. Before Alectra, Mr. Cananzi served as President & CEO of Horizon Utilities Corporation, Horizon Holdings Inc., and Horizon Energy Solutions Inc., leading significant modernization and growth initiatives. He presently serves as the Chairman of the OMERS Sponsors Corporation, providing governance oversight for one of Canada’s largest pension plans. He also serves on the board of GrandBridge Energy. Mr. Cananzi holds an MBA from McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Business and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario.
Meet Max
Robert Wong is a veteran Canadian utilities and cybersecurity executive who retired as Executive Vice President, Chief Information Officer, and Chief Risk Officer at Toronto Hydro, where he spent nearly 27 years leading major transformations in IT, operational technology, enterprise risk, and corporate governance. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), to which he was appointed in 2022. Mr. Wong also chaired the Broader Public Sector Cybersecurity Expert Panel, advising the Ontario government on sector wide cyber resilience. He holds a BASc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business, along with a Chartered Director designation.

Trina McGhie is a senior technology and cybersecurity executive at The Co‑operators Group Limited. During her tenure with the organization Ms. McGhie has served in multiple leadership roles, including Vice President of Technology Infrastructure and previously Vice President & Chief Information Security Officer. With more than 30 years of experience in risk management and cybersecurity, she is recognized for balancing business value, risk, and cost in complex financial‑services environments. Ms. McGhie has been with The Co‑operators for more than two decades, contributing to strategic initiatives including the development of secure, resilient technology capabilities. She is recognized as a transformational and highly versatile technology and risk leader.
Meet Trina
Todd Halpern is a Toronto based business leader who serves as President of Halpern Enterprises, one of Ontario’s oldest fine wine and spirits importers. He joined the family business in 1979 and helped expand it into a three generation company representing more than 175 global wineries and distilleries. Beyond the wine industry, Mr. Halpern is known for major philanthropic work, including founding the Grand Cru Culinary Wine Festival and serving in leadership roles at the University Health Network and Destination Ontario. His contributions have earned national and international recognition, including France’s Order of Agricultural Merit and Canada’s Meritorious Service Medal.

Steve Lorimer is the Group Privacy and Information Security Officer at Hexagon, the global leader in measurement technologies. In his present role, Mr. Lorimer is responsible for developing the enterprise‑wide security and privacy strategy for the organization. He is a proponent for integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into Hexagon’s products and business operations, and a recognized thought leader on privacy and security of AI. Mr. Lorimer has led the design and implementation of major security programs, including a UK‑wide ISO27001:2013‑certified Information Security Management System, and has guided global incident‑response operations for the organization. He holds CISSP and CIPP/E certifications and is recognized for his deep expertise on cybersecurity and privacy across industry sectors such as utilities, communications, transportation, and government.

Natasha Giannopoulos is a retired senior technology and operations executive best known for her tenure as Managing Director of Information Technology at Onex Corporation, where she oversaw the company’s strategic technology roadmap and enterprise‑level systems. Before joining Onex, Ms. Giannopoulos held multiple leadership roles at LoyaltyOne, including Assistant Vice President and Chief Sustainability & Workplace Services Officer, contributing to major technology and organizational transformations. Her career spans more than 35 years across sectors such as private equity, retail, telecommunications, financial services, and loyalty marketing, with deep expertise in technology strategy, large‑scale delivery, and operational leadership. Ms. Giannopoulos is recognized as a versatile, results‑driven leader capable of stepping into a wide range of business and technology functions.

Brad Leufkens is a Managing Director at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan’s Teachers’ Venture Growth (TVG), where he helps lead direct investing efforts across North America. A founding member of TVG, Mr. Leufkens joined OTPP in 2013 after earlier roles in RBC’s Global Investment Bank. He currently serves as a board member or observer for innovative companies such as ApplyBoard and Coda. He holds an MBA from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management and a B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Guelph.
